If you want to put yesterday's disaster behind you, check out this blog.

excerpt:
Mark Donnelly with the national anthem. Great voice, but maybe lay off the rouge.

and:
Well, on the bright side, we can still catch Bones at 9. Let’s check the channel guide: “An investigation of a mutilated body found in a forest leads the team to an underground S&M group.” Alrighty then.

and:
Back to the intermission where a nervous Iain MacIntrye is interviewing Dave Nonis. What are the odds Nonis has had the same hair since Grade 6? I say, strong.

and:
Not so fast, blowout! Vancouver makes it 5-2 and we’re right back to being a goal away from being right back in it.

"Orland Kurtenblog, a.k.a. the KB, is written by Jason Brough and Mike Halford. It’s about the Vancouver Canucks and can be found on the interweb. You can contact the KB at kurtenblog(at)yahoo.ca."

I blame many of our tough losses over the years on Donnelly. Mr. Richard Loney is a far better singer and much more professional. Do not invite Donnelly back tongue.gif

...it is actually a hell of a thing ot be there while 18,000 strong sing your national anthem.

Other cities have caught on to it to a degree but no one does it like fans at GM Place.

It is a proud moment for me every game Donnely sings to hear fans belt out Oh Canada at the tops of their lungs.

Nothing beats going to an arena here in the states and watching people PRETEND they know the words to the American anthem. It's an embarrassment to those of us who know the words to BOTH anthems.

I have to disagree Don, Loney is the better singer and we seem to play better when he sings. I think you can see my frustration coming out from last nights debacle. Don't forget, It was after 1:00am when that crap ended here and I was too angry to get some sleep.

The way Donnelly sings the National Anthem is one of the few recurring events that gives me goosebumps everytime whether I'm there (the odd occasion), watching the game (when they actually show it) or listening on the radio.

Not to take anything away from Loney who is outstanding in his own right but I think he's getting up there and probably cannot commit the way he used to. I believe he still performs opera so at his age doing the Canucks games on a regular basis might be a bit much.
Not that I really know how difficult it is to sing opera and the National Anthem every once in a while?

He does still show up on occasion if I'm not mistaken.

Fuckin' rights Donny! cool.gif

Even relegated to watching the games on TV at home you can feel the energy during the anthem when Donnely waddles his finely tuned athletic self out onto the ice. Ever since 2003 when he forgot the words and simply tipped the mic to the crowd it has proved to be nothing short of brilliant.

So that's where the Kurtenbloggers went!

Unfortunately they have lost all their "indie-cred" by working for The Province, and should have "sell out" branded on their foreheads!

Too true. They have to keep it clean now. You won't hear anything as funny as Bertuzzi "donkey punching" Steve Moore anymore. Which was maybe the KB's best line of all time.

And poster "CaptainTrev" called out by the Kurtenbloggers...

excerpt:
(talking about making fun of Nonis, linked to this thread)

KB1: Listen, we're already being called sell-outs. There are no sacred cows on the KB. That's the rule. Except for Kevin Bieksa. He is perfect in every way.

KB2: Okay, but tread lightly. Don't post any stupid pictures or anything.
