QUOTE(Mophilio @ Mar 28 2008, 09:56 PM) Armstrong or Fletcher. Fletcher isn't an option. He's retired... only came back to help the Leafs in the interim.

If Nonis fucks up this summer it affects us for 3-5 years and I dont want to be saddled with a 5 year fuck up. He has proven he is not able to do the job...move on.

QUOTE(Southern_Canuck @ Mar 28 2008, 08:01 PM) Hey - a poll on whether Nonis should be fired! Did I accidentally log in to CDC... no?
Oh, it's on CanucksCentral - how fun!
Well, the answer is no - a couple of losses in one season doesn't make or break a franchise. The Canucks have a decent amount of talented youth, and a solid, veteran defence including goaltending.
It is a brand new world in the offseason, and Nonis has earned the right to make the decisions, IMO.
S_C Cheer on buddy... the Canucks are NOT making the playoffs if they keep status quo. Oh let me guess.. same story as per usual... re-sign Naslund and Morrison and re-up the Sedins.... Figures... Have a good summer.

S_C In light of CURRENT events I don't think the poll is uncalled for! EDIT: And, I bet you think Nonis should bring Linden back also....

QUOTE(Southern_Canuck @ Mar 28 2008, 08:01 PM) ...Nonis has earned the right to make the decisions, IMO. Based on what? He has spent above-average money to form an average team. Whoop-dee-do. I certainly don't think he's the worst GM the league has ever seen - but let's be blunt - by the only measure that matters - actual on-ice results - he's accomplished sweet **** all.

S_C I said no but If he got canned I wouldn't shed a tear he's been the GM for 3 years and now looks like 2 out of 3 sesaons not in the play-offs in both seasons that the team missed the play-offs they had collapses down the stretch, as far as AV thats Nonis's guy so i can't see it happening unless Nonis goes. What bothers me is the notion that this is the off season which nonis has money to spend, hello who is he going to sign there list of UFA's this off season is weak. And he's been here 3 years and now finally in the 4th he's going to ice a tallented team. Call me crazy but what UFA would want to come here and play a SHIT STYLE of hockey for a demanding coach. If nonis wants to fix this team and not just give out deals to washed up UFA's he's going to have to be creative by making trades and going after RFA's number one target should be Jeff Carter.

S_C To tell you the truth our defence hasn't really been solid as of late and the only youth we've seen is Mayson and Ryan Shannon. The only real point you made there is that we have an extremely solid goaltender who's also extremely tired from playing what will be 30 games in or row or something near that. To say it's a brand new world in the offseason is quite bold considering the moves Nonis does. After the trade for Louie he has done jack shit. He's taken absolutely no risks. The Luongo trade was risk free, you trade a sulking has been power forward for an elite goaltender who can win you many games in a season. As much as risks can sometimes be bad there are some that aren't all that bad. For example, why not resign Carter for the 2.5-3 he asked instead of signing Isbister, Ritchie and whoever else we signed. We should have also resigned Josh Green. He was in my opinion at great PKer. He blocked shots, used his stick well and didn't take too many stupid penalties. The risks he took this year were all low risk almost useless things. All the players he signed this year minus Miller have been scratched at least once. So no, IMO he hasn't earned the right, but because he is GM, he has the right.
